• You are eligible to travel with a pet in the cabin only if you are 18 or more years of age.
• The airline allows small pets (dogs, cats, rabbits, and small birds) to travel in the cabin with a combined weight of the carrier and a pet of 9 kg. 
• Your dog or cat should be at least eight weeks old to travel in the cabin.
• The pet fee of Alaska Airlines for both ways is $100.
• You may travel with two similar species of the same size. However, your pet must remain in the carrier during the whole trip.
• Your pet cannot occupy a seat by itself.
• If your pet shows any offensive behavior like excessive howling, barking, and growling, you will not be allowed to board the plane. 
• The airline does not accept Brachycephalic or short-nosed pets to fly on Alaska Airlines. 
• It is important for your pet to have a proper medical checkup by a licensed doctor, otherwise, you won’t be allowed to travel with your pet. 
• You must submit the following health-related certificate stating that your pet was inspected no more than ten days before the scheduled flight departure. Also, you should have a combined health and rabies certificate for your pet.

Dog and Cat Breed Restrictions

Under Alaska Airlines Pet Policy, only limited breeds of dogs and cats are allowed to fly in the main cabin and cargo.

• Dogs – The airline accepts the following breeds to travel in the main cabin including American Pit Bull, American Staffordshire Terrier, Boston Terrier, Pug, Shih Tzu, Japanese Pug, Bull Terrier, Chow Chow, Dutch Pug, French Bulldog, Boxer, Brussels Griffon, Mastiff, English Bulldog, English Toy Spaniel, Japanese Boxer, and Pekingese.
• Cats – Burmese, Exotic Shorthair, Persian, and Himalayan cat breeds can travel on the plane.

Reservations

Flyers cannot make their pet reservations online. Within 24 hours before flight departure, the pet owner must notify Alaska Airlines if you are flying with a pet. Send a text message to the number 82008. A maximum of two pets are allowed per passenger, and the second pet must go beneath the seat adjacent to the customer who booked the ticket. In the First Class cabin, just one pet is permitted. In the main cabin, a maximum of 5 pets are allowed.

Carrier Guidelines

Hard-sided carriers for pets flying in the cabin must be no larger than 17″ x 11″ x 7.5″. Soft-sided carriers must not be larger than 17″ x 11″ x 9.5″ . They must be leak-proof, ventilated properly, and have absorbent bedding lining. Carrier dimensions for dogs flying in the hold must not exceed 30″ x 27″ x 40″ . Kennels must be strong, with handles, ample ventilation, and a solid roof. You must add Food and water dishes to the inside for pets.

Pets in the Cabin

In the general cabin, you can bring two cats, dogs, birds, or bunnies (one per seat, with the seat next to yours, also booked in your name) or one pet in Alaska’s first-class cabin. If you’re bringing a cat or dog, it must be at least eight weeks old and weaned when you arrive. At any point, you are not permitted to take your pet from its container. The pet should be tiny enough to fit beneath the seat in front of you in its carrier. The size of the space behind the seat varies depending on the airline. International travel with pets

Only dogs and cats are permitted to travel between the United States and an International site. When going abroad, airlines highly urge that you examine the country’s health and vaccine requirements.

Traveling with service animals

Following significant modifications to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s (DOT) guidelines on the subject, Alaska Airlines has established a new policy on the carrying of service animals.

• Only service dogs trained to conduct jobs or perform duties for the benefit of a certified individual with a handicap will be accepted in Alaska. Emotional support animals are no longer considered service animals, but they can fly with Alaska Airlines under the Pet Policy.
• The airline do not assign emergency exit row for safety reasons to the guests flying with a service animal. The airline recommends taking a window seat to keep the service animal out of the way of oncoming vehicles.
• All customers are encouraged to check-in one hour before departure via Alaska Airlines. Please inform the customer service operator when you arrive at the airport that you are flying with a service animal to make sure your animal is aboard.
